Just prior to the inauguration of construction works for Agra Metro’s Phase 1 this week, workers from SAI Geotechnical Engineers began soil testing works on Line-1’s 4 km Taj East Gate – Taj Mahal Ramp section.
Back in 2015, RITES had subcontracted Agra Metro’s geotechnical investigation works to prepare the project’s detailed project report (DPR). The current investigation by SAI is being carried out through a subcontract from SAM India Builtwell to revalidate those findings to properly design and construct the line’s foundation.
SAM India Builtwell was awarded Package AGCC-01’s Rs 272.95 crore contract by Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) in October which includes building the line’s elevated viaduct with 3 stations at Fatehabad Road, Basai and Taj East Gate.
Geotechnical works are expected to take 2 months to get over. During that time, SAM India could possibly conduct a pile load test. Stay tuned…
