13 Bidders for Amritsar-Bathinda Expressway’s Construction

13 firms have submitted a total of 34 bids to construct 3 civil packages of the 154.866 km Amritsar – Bathinda Expressway after National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) opened technical bids today.

This 6 lane access-controlled highway (NH-754A) forms the northern part of the 1256 km Amritsar – Jamnagar Economic Corridor (NH-754 / EC-3). It was earlier planned as a 196 km brownfield upgrade of NH-54, but changed to a greenfield alignment in 2020.

NHAI invited bids for its 3 packages back in January 2021 – each with a 2 year construction deadline.

Package 1

Scope: Development of 6-lane Amritsar-Bathinda greenfield section of NH-754A from village Tiba on NE-5A to junction with Moga Jalandhar Road (NH-703) near Dharmkot (from km 0+000 to 39+000) as a part of Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic Corridor in the state of Punjab on Hybrid Annuity Mode under Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I (Package-1)

  • Estimate: Rs. 857.64 crore
  • Bidders: 9

Package 2

Scope: Development of 6-land Amritsar-Bathinda greenfield section of NH-754A from Junction with Moga Jalaandhar Road (NH-703) near Dharmkot to Junction withBhata Bhai Ka-Bhadaur Road near Dyalpura Bhai Ka (from 39+000 to km 93+000) as a part of Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic Corridor in the state of Punjab on Hybriad Annuity Mode under Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I (Package-2)

  • Length: 54.00
  • Estimate: Rs. 1199.26 crore
  • Bidders: 12

Package 3

Scope: Development of 6-land Amritsar-Bathinda greenfield section of NH-754A from junction with Bhagta Bhai K-Bhadaur Road near Dyalpura Bhai Ka to Junction with Mandi Dabwali Bathinda Road on Nh-54 near Sangat Kalan (from km 93+000 to 154+866) as a part of Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic Corridor in the state of Punjab on Hybriad Annuity Mode under Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I (Package-3)

  • Length: 61.866 km
  • Estimate: Rs. 1330.40 crore
  • Bidders: 13

The bids have now been sent for technical bid evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor for each package.

North of Bathinda, an interchange will be built near Rampura Phul to connect with the upcoming 75.5 km Ludhiana – Bathinda Expressway (NH-754AD) shown in red color above. Technical bids for that project’s 2 packages are currently planned to be opened on July 8 & 16, so stay tuned for similar posts later that day.
