8 Bidders for Bangalore-Vijayawada Expressway’s Packages 5-6 & 11-14

8 firms have submitted a total of 30 bids for the civil construction contracts of 518 km Bengaluru – Vijayawada Expressway project’s packages 5, 6, 11, 12, 13 & 14 in Andhra Pradesh.

This 6 lane access-controlled expressway will be built under Bharatmala Pariyojana (BMP) Phase 2 with a mix of brownfield-upgrade (36%) and greenfield (64%) routes. Its alignment will pass by Kadapa lending it the name of BKV Expressway.

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had invited tenders for their construction under Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) in October & November 2022 with a 730 day (2 year) deadline. Technical bids were opened on Thursday (P6 & P11) and Saturday (P5, P12, P13 & P14).

• Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd. – P5, P6, P11, P12, P13 & P14
• PNC Infratech Ltd. – P5 & P6

Package Scope and Chainage

• Package 5 (32.70 km): Nallacheruvu palli (Ch.96.300) to Yerragudipadu (Ch 129.000)
• Package 6 (31 km): Yerragudipadu (Ch.129.000) to Audireddipalle (Ch.160.000)
• Package 11 (32 km): Chandrasekharapuram (Ch.228.000) to Polavaram (Ch. 260.000)
• Package 12 (25.50 km): Polavaram (Ch. 260.000) to Marripudi (Ch.285.500)
• Package 13 (29.10 km): Marripudi (Ch. 285.500) to Somavarappadu (Ch.314.600)
• Package 14 (28.64): Somavarappadu (Ch.314.600)to Muppavaram (Ch.343.240)

The bids have now been sent for technical evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor for each package.

The project’s 343 km greenfield section connecting Kodikonda, AP to Addanki, AP has been divided up into 14 civil packages. Financial bids have been opened for 4 packages, technical bids have been opened for 6 packages, while bidding is underway for 4 packages – see a list and their contractors/status here.
