4 Bidders for Bhandara – Gadchiroli Expressway’s Packages BG-02 & BG-03
4 civil engineering firms have submitted a total of 7 bids to construct Packages BG-02 & BG-03 of the 156 km Bhandara – Gadchiroli Expressway project on EPC mode after technical bids were opened on Wednesday.
This 4 lane access-controlled highway project in eastern Maharashtra will have its northern terminal at Sawarkheda village on the upcoming Nagpur – Gondia Expressway. On the south-side, it will terminate near Gadchiroli Reserve Forest.
Patel Infrastructure was declared as the lowest bidder for 24.7 km Package BG-01 (Sawarkheda – Koknagad) in May. While negotiations between MSRDC and Patel were (and continue to be) underway, MSRDC in July invited bids for another 2 packages, BG-02 & BG-03, with a 2.5 year deadline and 1941.50 & 1996.14 crore estimate.
34.75 km Package BG-02 in Bhandara district will connect Garada village (Km 0+000) with Sarandi village (Km 34+750), while 34.786 km Package BG-03 will connect Sarandi with Kinhi village (Km 69+536) in Chandrapur district.

The bids have now been sent for technical evaluation which will take a couple of months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.
Nagpur – Gondia and Bhandara – Gadchiroli expressways are expected to reduce the travel time from Nagpur and Gadchiroli to about 2 hours from the current 3-4 hour journey.
Tender notices are currently pending for the rest of Bhandara – Gadchiroli Expressway’s construction. Looking at the average length of packages, I expect the remaining portion (roughly 61 km) between Kinhi & Gadchiroli to be broken up into 2 packages.
