Rahee Wins Bengaluru Suburban Rail Corridor 2’s Track Contract

Rahee Infratech Ltd. on Friday was declared as the lowest bidder for the track laying contract of the 149.35 km Bengaluru Suburban Rail project (BSRP)’s 23.86 km Corridor 2 by Karnataka’s Rail Infrastructure Development Company (K-RIDE).

This contract’s scope for Mallige Line or Line-2 connecting Baiyyappanahalli – Chikkabanavara involves supplying and installing ballastless tracks and other track elements (fastening system & turnouts) on its elevated viaduct which is under construction by Larsen & Toubro (L&T). It also involves installing ballasted tracks at Soladevanahalli Depot in north-western Bengaluru.

K-RIDE had invited tenders for this contract in August 2024 with a Rs. 102.24 crore estimate and 2 year deadline. Technical bids were opened in October 2024 to reveal 4 bidders. During evaluation, the bids submitted by Apurvakriti Infrastructure and Sumcon – PPMPPL JV were disqualified.

Rahee’s bid of Rs. 103.92 crore was negligibly higher than KRIDE’s Rs. 102.24 crore estimate, so a contract should be awarded in the coming weeks without a long financial bid evaluation period.

L&T in September 2022 was awarded Line-2 viaduct’s construction contract – the very first civil package of the entire project – but work has been bogged due to the unavailability of a clear right-of-way. KPC Projects in January 2025 was declared as the lowest bidder for Soladevanahalli Depot’s construction, but I don’t believe a LOA has been issued yet.
