AYESA & SYSTRA Bid for Lucknow Metro Line-2’s Design Consultant Contract

AYESA Ingenieria y Arquitectura S.A.U and SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India) Pvt. Ltd. this week submitted bids for Lucknow Metro Line-2‘s Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contract LKDDC-02.

Lucknow Metro’s Line-2 under Phase 1B project involves the construction of an 11.165 km long Line-2 connecting Charbagh Railway Station and Vasant Kunj via 12 stations through Old Lucknow. The project was approved for construction by India’s Central Government in August 2025 with an estimated total cost of Rs. 5801 crore.

Per Phase 1B’s Detailed Project Report (DPR), Lucknow’s Line-2 will have an approximate elevated length of 4.286 km with 5 stations between Vasant Kunj – Thakurganj, and an underground length of 6.879 km with 7 stations between Charbagh – Niwazganj.

Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) had invited bids for this consultancy contract in August 2024 with a 60 month (5 year) contract duration. Technical bids were opened this Tuesday to reveal 2 bidders – AYESA and SYSTRA.

UPMRC’s Brief Scope: Engagement of DDC for civil, architectural, E&M and traction works for the design of 4.29 km including ramp, elevated section with 05 elevated stations and 6.88 U/G section with 07 U/G stations and 1 depot at Vasant Kunj, Lucknow

Both bids since Tuesday have been undergoing technical evaluation. When completed, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely consultant.

If UPMRC is able to finalize a DDC by year-end, then I envision we’ll see bids for construction work being called no sooner than mid-2026 after designs are finalized.
