LKT Engineering Wins Pune Metro Line-2’s DDC Contract
A consortium of LKT Engineering Consultants Ltd. and Architect Hafeez Contractor has won a contract from the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro) to serve as the Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) for 12 elevated stations on its 14.665 km Line-2 between Vanaz and Ramwadi.
MahaMetro invited bids for this service in June 2017 and has given LKT-HC 80 weeks for the completion of detailed drawings to enable the start of construction. In their role, LKT-HC will work closely with the contractors of this section (tendering is underway for 8 stations) to review their design, propose and produce alternate designs for all architectural, building services, electrical and mechanical works.
The 12 stations included in this contract are located at Vanaz, Anand Nagar, Ideal Colony, Nal Stop, Garware College, Mangalwar Peth, Pune Railway Station, Ruby Hall Clinic, Bund Garden, Yerawada, Kalyani Nagar and Ramwadi –

Meanwhile, NCC last week started deploying men & machinery to carry out geotechnical investigations prior to building this line’s 7.15 km viaduct between Vanaz and Civil Court stations. Some images –

When will underground construction work start?
Timeframe depends on 2 time intensive factors –
1) Funding – MahaMetro is trying to secure a 600 million euro loan from EIB
2) Tendering – An essential process for assigning contractors
