9 Bidders for Ghaziabad – Kanpur Expressway’s DPR Work

9 firms have bid for preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Ghaziabad Kanpur Expressway in Uttar Pradesh after the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) opened technical bids today.

This greenfield access-controlled economic corridor will have a length of roughly 380 kms. It’s northern terminal is expected to be located on NH-9 (Ghaziabad – Hapur highway) and its southern terminal between Kanpur – Unnao, possibly on the upcoming 62.7 km Kanpur – Lucknow Expressway.

NHAI invited tenders for this consultancy service in May 2022 with a 300 day completion deadline and unknown estimate.

Bidders

  • C E Testing Company Pvt. Ltd.
  • Chaitanya Projects Consultancy Pvt. Ltd.
  • K and J Projects Pvt. Ltd.
  • LEA Associates South Asia Pvt. Ltd.
  • Lion Engineering Consultants Pvt. Ltd.
  • MSV International Inc.
  • RITES Ltd.
  • SA Infrastructure Consultants Pvt. Ltd.
  • Theme Engineering Services Pvt. Ltd.

NHAI’s Brief Scope: Consultancy Services for preparation of DPR for 4 laning from Ghaziabad-Hapur to Kanpur-Unnao Greenfield alignment via Farrukhabad (tentative length 380 Km)

Arrow simply points to the expressway’s likely end-points (nothing else!)

The bids have now been sent for technical bid evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely consultant.

The project was first announced in September 2019 and the central government approved its construction in May 2022. It will initially have four lanes with the provision to be expanded to 8 lanes in the future.

The highway’s alignment is expected to pass through nine districts — Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Unnao and Kanpur. It will run along the southern bank of the Ganga River somewhat parallel to the 594 km Ganga Expressway on the northern bank.

If ganga expressway is running parallel to it and not far away, then what is the need of this expressway…. Why not build a spur to Ghaziabad from ganga expressway… Plz answer 🙏🏻

Don’t look at it from the point of view of going from ghaziabad to kanpur. People can use Agra expressway as well for that. This new highway connects entire new set of town and bring these prosperity.

Ghaziabad aur Kanpur, both r big industrial city. As well as highly populated. Iss expressway se Aligarh and khurja ko bhi directly benefit hoga. Ghaziabad aur Kanpur mn dono expressway k entry aur exit point bhi alag alag honge, akele issi wajah se croro rs ka oil aur time save hoga.

Plz read the documents carefully, this is basically a small part/package 1 starting from gaziabad upto kanpur via farukhabad of entire ganga expressway. Soon Uttar Pradesh will be a state of Expressways.

I don’t get it, the Ganga Expressway has exactly the same alignment as this. I believe it starts somewhere near Ghaziabad/Hapur and moves towards Kanpur along the Ganga to end at Prayagraj in phase 1. Then what is the point of this parallel expressway? Or is it just a part of main Ganga Exp alignment?
There are far more far flung territories in UP(entire north, north-east and south-east UP that have no expressway connectivity, and just terrible infra in general. North-South connectivity should be the major concern of UPEIDA right now, considering East-West is being served by Yamuna, Agra-Lucknow, Purvanchal and soon Ganga Expressways? MRG, do you have any information that can clarify?

I really doubt the distance between Gaziabad and Kanpur which is mentioned 380 km.The aerial distance between both the town is 376 km so it means the expressway is in straight line between two cities which is not possible.

If a greefield expressway between Ghaziabad and Kanpur is being planned, it is a very good thing. But why 4 lane to start with ? Why not 6 lane to start with, expendable to 8? I remember, Gadkariji telling somewhere minimum lane for new expressways and highways should be 6 lanes.
Moreover, both Ghaziabad and Kanpur are industrial cities and Ghaziabad being in NCR, it makes little sense to start th eproject as 4 lane. I think it should be 6 lane minimum.

I think this is a good descision by up govt coz that area has not developed from long time and there are so many land on cheap rates area from Siana to anupsher via unchagaon parler to ganga express way is also a good idea from sadarpur village to bhensora hazipur sulaila ana narsena

I think if they extend the Ghaziabad-Kanpur Exp till Varanasi through Rae Bareili and Pratapgarh then it makes a lot more sense since it bypasses Prayagraj and makes the travel time between Ghaziabad and Varanasi in around 6-7 hours

This expressway is ending in Unnao and for prayagraj there is another expressway via lalganj-rai barely is being build, so the requirement will be fulfilled.
