Pune Metro Phase 2 – Information & Update

48.86 km long Pune Metro Phase 2 project is a partially approved metro project in Pune, Maharashtra.

31.64 km of routes comprising of 2 lines (Line-5 & Line-5’s Spur) were approved by Maharashtra’s Government in October 2024. This includes the construction of 25.518 km Line-5 connecting Khadakwasla – Swargate – Hadapsar – Kharadi via 22 elevated stations. The other approved line, Line-5’s 6.118 km spur, will connect Nal Stop – Warje – Manik Bagh via 6 elevated stations.

The project originally included the extension of Pune Metro’s Aqua Line from Vanaz to Chandni Chowk (1.12 km) and from Ramwadi to Wagholi (11.63 km). Both were fast-tracked and absorbed into Phase 1A or Phase 1 Extension project.

An official deadline of Phase 2 has not yet been set. At this time, construction on Phase 2 is expected to start no sooner than 2026. I expect Phase 2 to be completed and opened no sooner than 2031.

The following routes have been finalized by MahaMetro. I expect major modifications (consolidations, deletions) to be made by the time construction begins.
