5 Bidders for Kanpur Metro Line-2’s Contract KNPCC-12

Five firms have submitted bids for the civil construction work of Package KNPCC-12 on 8.38 km Kanpur Metro Line-2 (Agriculture University – Barra-8) after Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) opened technical bids today.

4.3 km long Package KNPCC-12 of the 32.38 km Kanpur Metro Phase 1 project consists of 2 disjointed elevated sections on either side of underground Package KNPCC-11 which was awarded for construction to KPIL – Gulermak JV in December 2023.

At 3.745 km, the southern section’s viaduct will connect Double Pullia Ramp and Barra-8 with 4 elevated stations at Vijay Nagar Chauraha, Shastri Chowk, Barra-7 Station and Barra-8. On the northern-end of the line, past Rawatpur Interchange Station, a small 557.8m viaduct will be built with 1 elevated station at Agriculture University next to Line-2’s Agriculture University Depot.

UPMRC had invited bids for KNPCC-12’s work in November 2023 with a Rs. 484 crore estimate and 30 month deadline.

UPMRC’s Brief Scope: Design and Construction of elevated viaduct and 5 Nos. elevated stations (viz. Agriculture University Station, Vijay Nagar Chauraha Station, Shastri Chowk Station, Barra-7 Station & Barra-8 Station) including Architectural Finishing, E&M work and special spans from end of ramp after Double Pullia Station to Barra-8 Station i.e., from chainage 3783.000m to 7528.566m and end of ramp in Depot to Agriculture University Station i.e. from Chainage (-)297.460m to (-)855.339 on Corridor-2 of Kanpur MRTS Project at Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India

The bids have now been sent for technical evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.

This package was designed by SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India), the Detailed Design Consultants (DDC) of Line-2.

This package and package KNPCC-14 for Agriculture Depot’s construction, which received 5 bids in December, are the only civil packages pending award in Kanpur Metro’s Phase 1 project. See a list of all Phase 1 packages (civil & systems) and their status over here.
