4 Bidders for Bhandara – Gadchiroli Expressway’s Construction in Maharashtra
Besides the 127 km Nagpur – Gondia Expressway and 182 km Nagpur – Chandrapur Expressway projects, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) last week also opened technical bids for the first package of the 156 km Bhandara – Gadchiroli Expressway project.
This 4 lane access-controlled highway project in eastern Maharashtra will have its northern terminal at Sawarkheda village on the upcoming Nagpur – Gondia Expressway. On the south-side, it will terminate near Gadchiroli Reserve Forest.
MSRDC has so far set into motion only 1 civil package, BG-01, for its construction. This 24.705 long package will run in an east-west orientation to connect Sawarkheda village with Koknagad & Gadegaon villages on NH-53.
MSRDC had invited bids for BG-01’s construction in February 2024 with a 2.5 year construction deadline.
Bidders
- Gawar Construction Ltd.
- GR Infraprojects Ltd.
- J Kumar Infraprojects Ltd.
- Patel Infrastructure Ltd.
MSRDC’s Brief Scope: Sawarkheda – Gadegaon Expressway link from km 0+000 Sawarkheda Tq. Kuhi Dist. Nagpur to km 24+705 Koknagad Tq. Dist. Bhandara (Length: 24.705 km)
The bids have now been sent for technical evaluation which will take a couple of months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.
Nagpur – Gondia and Bhandara – Gadchiroli expressways are expected to reduce the travel time from Nagpur and Gadchiroli to about 2 hours from the current 3-4 hour journey.
Tender notices are currently pending for the rest of Bhandara – Gadchiroli Expressway’s construction (see project information page). Looking at the average length of packages in other MSRDC projects, I expect the remaining portion (roughly 131 km) to be broken up into 4 packages.

Would you be able to tell where the route is available on government website?
Sure, visit: https://parivesh.nic.in/newupgrade/#/trackYourProposal?clearance=1
Search for: Super Communication (because that’s the strange name MSRDC has adopted for its expressways, as you might know)
Open the proposal by clicking on the green colored proposal number. On the top-right corner, click on ‘view documents’ to see all the docs submitted by MSRDC.
It’s a HAM or EPC project?
When will Bhumi adhigrahan process will start?
Is there a traffic forecast to justify a 4 lane expressway in such a remote and forested region? It seems to lead to nowhere.
