Ceigall Wins Ludhiana Bypass’ Construction Contract in Punjab

Ceigall India Ltd. on Friday was declared as the lowest bidder to construct the 25.24 km Southern Ludhiana Bypass project in Punjab by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

This 6 lane greenfield & access-controlled section of Ludhiana Ring Road will connect the under construction 650 km Delhi – Katra Expressway project near Ballowal with the existing national highway NH-44 (old NH-1) at Rajgarh.

NHAI considers this project to be a part of the Ludhiana – Ajmer Economic Corridor. This is their second attempt at bidding out its contract. Back in May 2022, Ceigall was declared as the lowest bidder for its original tender among 4 firms but a contract was never awarded, likely due to land acquisition-related difficulties.

NHAI re-invited bids in October 2024 with a 2 year deadline and Rs. 864.97 estimate. Technical bids were opened in January 3, 2025 to reveal 2 bidders.

Ceigall’s bid of Rs. 923 crore was 6.71% higher than NHAI’s estimate, which is negligible in the highway sector, so a contract should be awarded in the coming weeks if no extraneous issues arise.

In addition to the Delhi – Katra Expressway, Ludhiana’s ring road will connect to the 75.4 km Ludhiana – Bathinda Expressway (NH-754AD) and 91 km Ludhiana – Rupnagar Expressway (NH-205K).

Gold Line (Metro Line 8) approved by Maharashtra State Govt. today. CIDCO will be the implementing agency and not MMRDA.
