[Pics] Bangalore Metro Gets Ready for Today’s Inauguration
Today’s the day everyone in Bangalore has been waiting for! Or maybe not, as tomorrow will be the day when commercial operations begin and everyone can take a ride through the metro’s 4.8 km underground section between MG Road and Magadi Road. Prior to that happening, the necessary inauguration of the metro’s services by union and state ministers, “honorable chief guests”, “honorable guests of honor” and “honorable ward corporators” (see list of invitees) will take place today at 6 pm at an event hosted at the Vidhana Soudha.

Trains yesterday conducted multiple runs throughout the corridor while workers cleaned & decked up the Vidhana Soudha station. A team from the Chief Minister’s security unit combed though the station’s premises and took a ride on one of the trains. Here are some images:

Thank you for the updates on Bangalore metro TMRG….you are awesome….. I had a question to you…. in Second phase of metro why is underground option not considered? is it a Costly affair or is it not feasible to go underground ….. as it would might lose the beauty of bangalore…. dont you think so?

In the Gottigere (Bannerghatta road) to Nagarawara metro line a big chunk of it (Dairy circle to Nagawara) is underground
Hi Aneesh, thanks for your message! Underground construction is definitely a lot more costly (1.5x to 3x more than elevated construction depending on city/geology), but the BMRCL has considered it in Phase 2 for areas lying in the city center. Roughly 13.79 km of the 21.25 km Gottigere – Nagawara line will be underground between Dairy Circle – MG Road – Pottery Town – Nagawara.
Visited Majestic area yesterday and today. Looks like Majestic (KempeGowda stn) has 3 entry/exit points. Only one of the gates was ready . Other 2 were/are still under construction and seeing construction stage, it could take another 3-4 months easily.
At city railway station, I saw entry/exit gate on Binny mill side seems to be ready for open, not sure on railway station side (10th platform of city railway station).
One “honourable” minister delared that by Nov 1st — Rajyotsava day, phase 1 will be completed. As a saving (his) grace, he didnot mention which year 2016 or 2017…
Good observations on the entrances. Hopefully work gets wrapped up asap on the under construction ones. I did notice those over-enthusiastic dates as well. These guys have been taking the locals for a ride..the wrong type, of course!

Hi, I have no special information about her 🙂 I think TOI did a good job in highlighting her achievement as India’s first female tunnel engineer. Congrats to her!

This system brought us people who travel from one corner to another corner of the city for any purpose which saves lot of time which can be used with family members

I don’t see any Metro work happening on Bannerghatta Road, Metro is expected to come there in near future ?
