Phase 2 Information

Construction work on Delhi Metro Phase 2 project with a length of 124.93 km began in 2006. The first section opened in 2008 and the last section opened in 2011.

Estimated Cost: Rs. 18,783 crores

Phase 2 Funding Plan

  • Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA): 54.47%
  • Government of India: 16.39%
  • Government of Delhi: 16.39%
  • DMRC Internal Accruals/Property Development: 5.59%
  • Interest free subordinate debt towards Land Cost: 3.83%
  • Interest free Subordinate debt for Central Taxes: 2.73%
  • Grant by HUDA: 0.59%

Phase 2 Routes

This phase involved the construction of 3 new lines on standard gauge & 1 new line on broad gauge. Besides those, the existing lines built in Phase 1 were extended.

New Lines:

  • Line-4 – Blue Line: Yamuna Bank – Vaishali (8.74 km)
  • Line-5 – Green Line: Inderlok – Mundka (15.15 km)
  • Line-5 – Green Line: Kirti Nagar – Ashok Park Main (3.31 km)
  • Line-6 – Violet Line: Central Secretariat – Badarpur (20.16 km)
  • Line-x – Airport Express Line: New Delhi – Dwarka Sector 21 (22.70 km)

Note: The Airport Express line (Orange line) does not have an official line number associated with it.

Extensions of Existing Lines:

  • Line-1 – Red Line: Shahdara – Dilshad Garden (3.09 km)
  • Line-2 – Yellow Line: Vishwavidyalaya – Jahangipuri (6.36 km)
  • Line-2 – Yellow Line: Central Secretariat – HUDA City Centre (27.58 km)
  • Line-3 – Blue Line: Indraprastha – Noida City Centre (15.07 km)
  • Line-3 – Blue Line: Dwarka Sector 9 – Sector 21 (2.77 km)
