4 New Metro Trains Delivered to Chennai’s Koyambedu Depot

Chennai’s Koyambedu Depot has shiny new occupants! This week, Alstom delivered 4 new train-sets of 4 cars each to the Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. These trains have been manufactured at Alstom’s Sri City manufacturing plant which is located only 75.7 kms away from the Koyambedu depot. Talk about convenience.

With the coaches unloaded and preliminary checks performed, the trains will be examined & tested first at the workshop line and then be tested on the test track within the Koyambedu depot (See: Tour of Chennai Metro’s Koyambedu Depot). With these 4 trains delivered safely to their new home, only 13 more are now left to be delivered as part of the 42 train-set contract signed between Alstom and CMRL in August 2010.
