Track Laying Work Starts for Lucknow Metro

Last week I had tweeted about the arrival of 225 tracks at Lucknow Metro’s depot and now work to lay them for the project has begun! On January 15, after the first pair of tracks (2 x 13m) were laid, a small puja to mark the auspicious day of Makar Sankranti was conducted for the project’s success.

As per the plan, a total of 13 km of tracks will be laid just within the depot. Even though initially only 20 trains of 3 coaches ordered from Alstom will run on the 23 km line 1 between CCS Airport to Munshipulia, the depot has been designed to accommodate a total of 41 trains of 6 coaches keeping the 2040 passenger projections in mind. This means that all the inspection & stabling lines including the 650 meter test track will be future-proof!
