Nagpur Metro Invites Bids for 10 Stations on East-West Line

The Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. has finally invited bids (see notice) from infrastructure / construction companies to construct 10 elevated stations on the 10.041 km Lokmanya Nagar – Jhansi Rani Square ‘Reach 3’ section of Nagpur Metro’s 18.557 km east-west line! Just a few weeks ago they had opened the financial bids for the viaduct portion of this section to reveal Afcons Infrastructure as the lowest bidder. The contract for that is expected to be awarded in the coming weeks.

Reach 3 includes stations at Lokmanya Nagar (near the depot), Bansi Nagar, Vasudev Nagar, Rachna Ring Road Junction, Subhash Nagar, Ambazari Lake View (Dharampeth College), LAD Chowk, Shankar Nagar, Institute of Engineers and Jhansi Rani Square. The line will intersect with the north-south line at Sitaburdi where the interchange station will be surrounded by mixed use developments (see final design here).

The pre-bid meeting with interested infra companies will be held on June 1 and the last date for submitting tender documents is 4 pm on July 1. Following that, the technical bids will be opened & evaluated at 4 pm on July 4. After the contract is finalized, piling work for the stations can be expected to begin as soon as October 2016.

Besides this package, the NMRCL has also invited bids for the construction of both the Hinga Depot for this line (shown above) and the MIHAN Depot for the north-south line.
