MEGA Invites Bids for Ahmedabad Metro’s Thaltej Gam – Sabarmati Section

The Metro-Link Express for Gandhinagar & Ahmedabad (MEGA) has invited bids for constructing a 8.21 km elevated package from Thaltej Gam to the Western Ramp of underground corridor which will come up by the banks of the Sabarmati river at Shahpur!  This section on the 20.536 km east-west line represents the last section on the entire 37.766 km Phase 1 project for which bids had to be invited. Sealed Tenders are invited from reputed and experienced contractors for the work of “Construction of Elevated Viaduct from Thaltej Gam to End of Western Ramp (ch -710 to + 7503) in E-W Corridor R2 including Bridge over Sabarmati river and 7 Stations Thaltej Gam, Thaltej, Doordarshan Kendra, Gurukul, Gujarat University, Commerce Six Road and Stadium Circle and excluding Interchange Old High Court Station for Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-I”

Besides the crucial bridge over the Sabarmati river, this section also consists of 7 stations at Thaltej Gam, Thaltej, Doordarshan Kendra, Gurukul, Gujarat University, Commerce Six Road and Stadium Circle. The High Court interchange station is part of a separate package for which bids were invited in February.

MEGA has estimated this section to cost Rs 671 crore. The last date for submitting tender documents for bidding is August 29 (3 pm) after which the technical bids will be opened & evaluated at 3:30 pm. The financial bids are expected to be opened in Q4 2016 and once the contract is finalized, piling work for this section of the line can be expected to begin in Q2 2017.

In other bidding news, MEGA has re-invited bids for constructing 5 stations between Motera & Ranip, and the last date for submitting bids for 2 packages of the 6.83 km underground section has been extended from June 23 to July 29.
