Tata-Gulermak JV Begins Setting up Casting Yard for Lucknow Metro

While Terratec is getting ready to transport 2 Tunnel Boring Machines from its Delhi facility to Lucknow, the Tata – Gulermak JV has started setting up a casting yard in Lucknow to churn out precast segments for the city’s 3.44 km LKCC-06 underground project. The 1.4m wide segments cast at this yard will next year be fed into the rear-end of the TBMs, and then be erected one at a time to form the inner walls of Lucknow Metro’s twin tunnels between Charbagh and KD Singh Babu Stadium – see map & construction images.

The yard is being setup in Vrindavan Colony’s Sector 19 area. Some images:

Here’s how the storage section of the yard will look like by the middle of next year:

Here’s a tweet from March 2016 which shows what’s going to happen here to achieve that:

And finally, here’s an excellent video demonstrating how the segments will be used to build rings for Lucknow Metro’s tunnels. Skip to 5 mins and 15 seconds if doesn’t do so automatically.
