CMRS to Inspect Bangalore Metro’s Green Line on May 29-31
The final round of safety inspections of Bangalore Metro’s 12 km Sampige Road – Yelachenahalli section of the Green Line are scheduled to be held over 3 days from May 29-31 by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) from the Indian Railways’ Southern Circle. This will be the 6th and final time an inspection is held for commissioning any section of the 42.30 km Phase 1 project.
Prior to the inspection, the CMRS will make a brief visit to the line on May 24 during which a press conference might be held to reveal the inspection’s agenda/schedule.
May 23 Update – Here’s the inspection agenda:
• May 24 – Pre-inspection visit to Yelachenahalli
• May 29 – Inspection of Yelachenahalli – National College (8 kms, Reach 4 & 4A)
• May 30 – Inspection of Sampige Road – National College (4 kms, UG1)
• May 31 – Speed trial & Peenya Depot’s inspection

Trial runs on this section were first launched on the 8 km elevated Reach-4/4A between National College and Yelachenahalli in November 2016, and then extended northward through the 4 km underground UG-1 section between Sampige Road and National College in March 2017. A team from the Research Design & Standards Organisation (RDSO) conducted speed trials in early May which was followed by a certification of the line’s signalling system by an Independent Safety Assessor.
In the upcoming inspection, the CMRS and his team will visually inspect the line’s tunnels, viaduct, tracks and all facets of the stations such as its PA system, signage, safety features, drinking water facilities, station access and control room. This section will add 10 new stations to the network at Majestic (platforms & new entrance), Chickpet, KR Market, National College, Lalbagh, South End Circle, Jayanagar, RV Road, Banashankari, JP Nagar and Yelachenahalli:

Once approved, the line’s inauguration will depend on the availability of local & national ministers, as well as on the completion of finishing works inside KR Market & Chickpet stations. After its inauguration, the Green Line connecting Hessaraghatta Cross with Yelachenahalli will become 24.40 km long and Bangalore Metro’s network will expand to 42.30 km, marking the completion of its Phase 1 project.

Great!! Looks like BMRCL worked hard in the last few months to get this done.
What was estimated, even by this blog, that it will be done only by Q4 2017, is in the verge of completion.
SO FINALLY ITS HAPPENING… THE MUCH AWAITED EVENT OF THE DECADE!!!! BUT THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION IS ” WHETHER CHICKPET STN WILL BE READY TO HANDLE THE COMMERCIAL OPERATION ON IMMEDIATELY ON CMRS CLEARANCE ” or ” IT WILL BE JUST ANOTHER POPULIST STAGE SHOW IN VIEW OF COMING ELECTIONS”…….FINGERS CROSSED

Actually, it was from a post that I had made, comparing all metro constructions in the bigger cities! Looks like newspaper reporters are reading threads as well as comment posts, I guess.

Does BMRCL have plans to
1. connect BSK to Peenya (via Mysore Road Terminal), on the outer ring road ?
2. connect Peenya to KR Puram (via Hebbal), on the outer ring road ?
This will complete the metro services on the ORR
that is in dreams.. they only facilitate metro connectivity to high revenue earning areas.. BSK to Peenya &Peenya to KR Puram is not on the list at all
Please see the Information page on this blog against Bangalore on what is planned as of now in Ph2 and also Ph3 which is not final yet. Hebbal to Silkboard is part of Ph3 and going by the latest developments KR Puram to Silkboard section could be expedited as part of Ph2A but no plan of connecting Peenya to Hebbal.
BSK to Peenya via Mysore Road on ORR is not possible because of the terrain and there have been talks of light rail but nothing concrete yet. So, technically there is no metro section on the western part of ORR.

Can I pls know when we can expect completion metro link between Silk board and KR puram ?
Work cannot start until funding from private sources (Rs. 1000-2000 cr expected) is tied up and a detailed design of the line is prepared.
If they were to invite construction bids today, then I see it opening up only in or after 2022.

lol Bangalore metro has turned itself into a joke, guess DMRC needs to take over and show these amateurs how it is really done. What a pathetic project filled with missed deadlines and delays. The director of this project needs to be sacked for this lackluster performance
Apologies for the late entry to the discussion, but was it not the Commissioner of Railway Safety that did the inspection in May/June?
A recent circular went out about the creation of a circle office for the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (http://pib.nic.in/newsite/PrintRelease.aspx?relid=174365). I don’t think the position of CMRS exists so far.
