DMRC Invites Bids for Blue Line’s New Elevated Stabling Yard in Noida

After starting a multi-year transformation program in 2016 to add 3 new 8-coach trains and convert 37 existing 6-coach trains into 8-coach trains on the 58.67 km Blue Line, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation now seems to be running out of space at the Najafgarh and Yamuna Bank depots to park them. They’ve published a notice inviting bids for the construction of an elevated stabling yard to park trains along the under construction 6.8 km Noida City Centre – Electronic City section of the line which is scheduled to open up in 2018.

Notice Inviting Tenders (CC-129)
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Ltd. invites open e-tender from eligible applicants, who fulfill qualification criteria stipulated under Clause 1.1.3 of NIT, for the work “Construction of Elevated Stabling Depot for Metro extension from Noida City Centre to Noida Sector – 62.”

The notice doesn’t mention anything about the yard’s specs – its size, capacity or the location where it will come up, but there’s a good possibility it being located at Electronic City where the line veers off of the sector road with plenty of land available over the road itself.

DMRC has estimated the yard’s construction to cost Rs 150.05 crores and would like work to be completed within 16 months. The last date for submitting tender documents for bidding is August 30 2017 (3 pm) after which the bids will be opened & evaluated for eligibility at 3:30 pm.

The yard will merely serve to park trains overnight and all maintenance will continue to be carried out at the Najafgarh and Yamuna Bank depots. When built, it will go on to become the 2nd such elevated yard on the entire network, with the first one located in Jasola Vihar on the upcoming 38.235 km Magenta Line – view details & construction images here.

This is first update on TMRG regarding Noida Sec 62 line after a year. The work on this line has picked up only in the last 3 months. Most of the piers are ready on this strech and spans are being laid now with almost 80% of the work over for the same.
