MahaMetro Invites Bids for Pune Metro’s Civil Court – Ramwadi Section

This weekend, the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro) launched the bidding process for constructing the 3rd leg of Pune Metro’s 31.254 km Phase 1 project. Bids have been invited from infrastructure firms for the construction of a 7.715 km elevated viaduct on the 14.665 km Line-2 between Civil Court and Ramwadi in eastern Pune under package P1C-05.

Overall, this is the 6th civil package for which bids have been invited. Contracts for this line’s section in western Pune (Vanaz – Civil Court) were earlier awarded to NCC (7.15 km viaduct) and HCC-Al Fara’a JV (8 stations).

This section includes 8 stations at Civil Court, Mangalwar Peth, Pune Railway Station, Ruby Clinic, Bund Garden, Yerawada, Kalyani Nagar and Ramwadi which will be constructed as part of a separate contract for which bids are expected to be invited in the coming weeks.

MahaMetro has estimated this package to cost Rs 432 crore and would like work to be completed within 110 weeks. Tender documents went on sale on February 17 and are available until March 23 (4 pm) after which the bids will be opened & evaluated for eligibility at 4:30 pm.

Looking at extremely short timeframes for Reach-1 and Reach-2’s bidding, the financial bids for this section are expected to be opened towards the end of Q2 (May/June) and once the contract is finalized, piling work for this section of the line can be expected to begin in Q3 (July-September)

The grey portion of the 16.589 km north-south Line-1 (PCMC – Swargate) is entirely underground between Range Hills & Swargate. For that, MahaMetro in January invited bids for just the construction of two TBM launch shafts and the underground Swargate Station.
