Reliance – Astaldi JV Launches 1st U-Girder for Mumbai Metro Line-4

In the early morning hours of January 22, workers from Reliance Infrastructure – Astaldi JV erected their first U-girder for package CA-12 of Mumbai Metro’s 32.32 km Line-4 (Green Line) which will connect Wadala – Vikhroli – Thane – Kasarawadavali.

Weighing in at 165 mt, the 28m long U-girder was successfully placed into position on top of piers P58 & P59 near the upcoming Manpada Station on Ghodbunder Road.

RInfra – Astaldi JV was awarded contracts for 3 of Line-4’s 5 civil packages in February 2018. Package CA-12’s scope includes the section from Kapurbawdi to Kasarvadavali with 6 stations at Kapurbawdi, Manpada, Tikuji-Ni-Wadi, Dongari Pada, Vijay Garden and Kasaradavali.

This isn’t the first U-girder erected for the line though. In early December 2019, TPL-CHEC JV erected their first U-girder for package CA-09 in Vikhroli.
