Soil Testing Begins for Delhi Metro Pink Line’s Phase 4 Extn

This past week, Sai Geotechnical Engineers Pvt Ltd. and Cengrs Geotechnica Pvt. Ltd. on sub-contracts from KEC – Longjian JV began geo-technical soil investigation works at at least 3 locations for building Delhi Metro Line-7 (Pink Line)’s 12.375 km elevated extension from Maujpur to Majlis Park in the 61.679 km (and growing) Phase IV project.

The line’s geotechnical investigation reports are usually made available to all interested infrastructure companies during the bidding stage by the operator, in this case by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), but contractors usually re-validate those findings prior to the start of construction to ensure the optimal design is selected for constructing the line’s foundation or substructure.

KEC – Longjian JV is the civil contractor for this extension (package DC-02), and was awarded a Rs. 1,080.00 cr. contract in November 2019. Their scope of work includes the line’s viaduct, bridge over the Yamuna River, a PWD double-decker flyover and 8 stations at Yamuna Vihar, Bhajanpura, Khajuri Khas, Sonia Vihar, Wazirabad Surghat, Jagatpur Village, Jharoda Majra and Burari.

Meanwhile, for package DC-03(R) on the Magenta Line – the DMRC opened eligibility & technical bid envelopes to reveal that LRBCL – KEC JV and Gulermak – Sam India JV had placed bids. That 7.473 km elevated section (view map) will connect Haiderpur – Badli Mor with Ashok Vihar through 4 stations at Bhalswa, Majlis Park, Azadpur and Ashok Vihar, with a viaduct connection to the Pink Line’s Mukundpur Depot. On GT Road, the line will be partly integrated with a PWD flyover between Azadpur and Derawal Nagar.

    Hi,

Actually, KEC has awarded the Geotech work to 2 parties equally: Sai Geotechnical and Cengrs Geotechnica Pvt. Ltd. You can correct the post accordingly.

Happy to share updates on the work as we go..
