J Kumar Launches 1st U-Girder for Mumbai Metro Line-6

This afternoon, workers from J Kumar Infraprojects – CRTG JV erected the first U-girder for the 15.18 km Mumbai Metro Line-6 (Pink Line) project which’ll connect Swami Samarth Nagar in Lokhandwala Complex with Vikhroli through 13 elevated stations.

Weighing 140 MT, the 25m long U-girder was successfully placed into position on Piers 23 – 24 near Swami Samarth Nagar Circle on package BC-03 of the project.

Package BC-03 was awarded to J Kumar – CRTG JV on August 7, 2018 by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (executor of Line-6) with a contract value of Rs. 867.75 crore. It involves the construction of a 6.079 km viaduct from chainage – 822.508m to 5257.400m and five stations at Swami Samarth Nagar, Adarsh Nagar, Jogeshwari (W), JVLR and Shyam Nagar.

    Nice to see that the Pink Line of the Mumbai Metro is now progressing rapidly. TMRG, any updates on the Aarey Carshed ? Since the news were came that, the committee have found no viable option for Metro Depot of Aqua Line. No news were came since then. Any updates on that ?

    only 4 % work done in 2 years for metro Line 2 B between DN Nagar to Bandra.Why so much delay only for this line?The old contractor Simplex thrown out.Why still not hiring new contractor in last 4 months?

      15180/25m*2 lines, so approx 1200? Just a wild calculation.

      They’ll likely use I-girders around tight curves (eastern section), so the total number will be less than that.
