J Kumar Launches 1st U-Girder for Mumbai Metro Line-6
This afternoon, workers from J Kumar Infraprojects – CRTG JV erected the first U-girder for the 15.18 km Mumbai Metro Line-6 (Pink Line) project which’ll connect Swami Samarth Nagar in Lokhandwala Complex with Vikhroli through 13 elevated stations.
Weighing 140 MT, the 25m long U-girder was successfully placed into position on Piers 23 – 24 near Swami Samarth Nagar Circle on package BC-03 of the project.
Package BC-03 was awarded to J Kumar – CRTG JV on August 7, 2018 by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (executor of Line-6) with a contract value of Rs. 867.75 crore. It involves the construction of a 6.079 km viaduct from chainage – 822.508m to 5257.400m and five stations at Swami Samarth Nagar, Adarsh Nagar, Jogeshwari (W), JVLR and Shyam Nagar.

Sirjee, mein yahaan pe news / updates ke baare mein likhta hoon. Mere paas koi job nahi hai. Kripya contractor se direcly baat kijiye.
Kahe nahin hai ? News chap sakte hain lekin ek insaan ko naukri nahin de sakte hain ? Bahut burbak.
Koshish toh kijiye. Baas haath jhadka liye…
Recruitment and introductions are beyond my control. If I could help out in any way, then I definitely would have.
Nice to see that the Pink Line of the Mumbai Metro is now progressing rapidly. TMRG, any updates on the Aarey Carshed ? Since the news were came that, the committee have found no viable option for Metro Depot of Aqua Line. No news were came since then. Any updates on that ?
MMRCL recently published a tender notice for planting 9000 trees. See:
I have a feeling they’ll use this as a compensating tool to build up their case for building at Aarey. The delay is painful.
only 4 % work done in 2 years for metro Line 2 B between DN Nagar to Bandra. Why so much delay only for this line? The old contractor Simplex thrown out.Why still not hiring new contractor in last 4 months?
Status of 2B’s bidding remains unknown – I’m trying to figure out where the tender currently stands.
Like Line 7, MMRDA might have already awarded 2B’s contract.
It seems this Line 2 B , MMRDA does all hiring of contractor on hidden basis. The earlier contractor was also given contract ( Simplex Infra) suddenly without any news or any official announcement. As per what you is true, then history repeats. Sad that work is stuck badly on this line for now 2.5 years.
MMRDA publicly announced Simplex winning its contract on Nov 14, 2017.
I covered its financial bid opening event a days prior. See – https://themetrorailguy.com/2017/11/13/simplex-lowest-bidder-for-mumbai-metro-line-2bs-western-section/
How many U girders do you think Line 6 will require?
15180/25m*2 lines, so approx 1200? Just a wild calculation.
They’ll likely use I-girders around tight curves (eastern section), so the total number will be less than that.
Any update about navi Mumbai metro ?. This project seems delayed to eternity.
They have all 8 train-sets now. End to end trial runs haven’t started yet. Station work is ongoing – posted some snaps on Twitter of prefab staircases being lifted.
