The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is the owner of the Pink Line and Maha Mumbai Metro Operations Corporation (MMMOCL) will operate and maintain all train services.

The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Line-6 was prepared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in December 2016, and approved by the Maharashtra state government’s cabinet on 24 October 2017 with a cost of Rs. 6,672 crore.

Line-6’s three civil contracts were awarded to J Kumar Infraprojects in August 2018 (package 03) & February 2019 (package 01R1), and to MBZ-EIIL JV (package 02R) in September 2018.

Line-6’s first section is expected to open in the end of 2026 and will be connected to other metro lines, bus and suburban rail services through multiple interchanges throughout its route.
