CCECC – KEC Begins Casting 1st Pile Cap for Delhi Metro Phase 4

Just over a week after pouring concrete to cast the first U-girder, workers from KEC International Ltd. today started casting their first pile cap in Delhi’s Keshopur neighborhood for a 12.375 km elevated extension (DC-01) of Delhi Metro’s Line-8 (Magenta Line) between the Vikaspuri Ramp and Haiderpur-Badli Mor Station.

China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation – KEC International (CCECC – KEC) JV’s Package DC-01 is the first section of the 61.679 km (and growing) Delhi Metro Phase 4 project on which work started in December 2019 with a deadline of 30 months.

This package combined with other civil packages, DC-03R, DC-05 & DC-06 (see package & status details), will form a 28.92 km extension of Line-8 from Janakpuri West towards RK Ashram through 22 new stations.

DC-01 includes 10 elevated stations at Keshopur, Paschim Vihar, Peeragarhi, Mangolpuri, West Enclave, Pushpanjali, Deepali Chowk, Madhuban Chowk, Prashant Vihar & North Pitampura along the Outer Ring Road.

Why didn’t DMRC decide to make this section underground? The outer ring road on this section is already pretty congested due to the elevated roads running directly above. I don’t think there is enough space to construct elevated stations.

Cost is the major reason, as you would have guessed.

They’ll likely be acquiring land for stations. I’m hoping they don’t eat into the surface road’s space.

The Widening work of Outer Ring Road through which this section passes has already been done few years ago when PWD flyovers were being constructed in 2015. Now they are much wider than the Ring Road through which major portion of Line 7 passes. Shouldn’t be a problem.

Good to know! Some followers have in the past said a couple places enroute were tight with little room to build. I’ll see if I can find those messages for exact locations.

The problem area’s I know is around Keshopur where the line will just be underground before going elevated and then will be Pperagarhi flyover, but there is large land parcel available on the Punjabi Bagh side after Rohtak Road and before it, we have a big park and DTC depot so it should not be a problem. Rest of the segment has wide service lanes on both sides providing ample space for elevated section
