NHSRCL Invites Survey & GAD Bids for Delhi – Ahmedabad HSR

National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) today invited bids under 3 packages to assist in the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the upcoming 886 km Delhi – Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project which’ll connect both cities through 12 stations in Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

After the 865 km Delhi – Varanasi High-Speed Rail Line, this is the second of six new high speed rail corridors, planned by the Government of India in 2019, for which basic preliminary work has commenced to start construction on the project.

The line is expected to have its southern terminal at Sabarmati Station in Ahmedabad which is currently under construction by BL Kashyap & Sons as part of the 508.17 km Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail corridor. When ready, both lines will effectively operate as one unified line.

I m happy that the Mum-Adh High Speed Line will extend till Delhi, it will make the high speed line more feasible. Now it’s time for Mumbai to Hyderabad. I hope that they will include a Station at Navi Mumbai International Airport. I think they will make an rake Interchange Line by making a deep shaft so that NHSRCL will run Hyderabad to Ahmedabad High Speed service via Thane as Mumbai will act as a Terminal Station. TMRG, what’s your opinion about this?

Too early to say if a train/rake interchange line will be planned at Thane. Great idea though, as I believe effectively all new HSR lines entering Mumbai will have to go through Thane towards BKC.

Hoping NM Airport is connected as well. Ideally CSIA should have had a stop on the Mumbai – AMD route. It’s disappointing.

Agreed with you on CSIA being a choice for bullet train’s terminus in Mumbai. I had proposed this myself in my blog about 4 years ago. They could even have extended it south and had another terminus at Mumbai Central or Churchgate.

From the DPR of MAHSR though, it’s clear that they’ll have a Wye under Parsik hills for any southbound HSR from Mumbai. Could do a 3-way wye instead, so Hyderabad – Ahmedabad type train can go directly from Panvel to Thane instead of needing to reverse at BKC.
