CMRS Inspects Bangalore Metro Green Line’s Anjanapura Extn

The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation today concluded its 2-day statutory safety inspection of Bangalore Metro’s 6.29 km Yelachenahalli – Anjanapura section of the Green Line on Kanakapura Road.

The CMRS led a 4 member team and on Wednesday inspected everything you can think of – the section’s civil structure, elevators, escalators, fire fighting system, control room and passenger facilities across all five stations. Today they conducted speed trials clocking speeds of 90 kmph and inspected the line’s systems which includes signaling, electrical system and track-system.

This first section of the 73.92 km Bangalore Metro Phase 2 project includes 5 new elevated stations at Konankunte Cross (formerly Anjanapura Cross Road), Doddakallasandra (formerly Krishna Leela Park / ISKON), Vajrahalli, Thalgattapura, and Anjanapura (formerly Anjanapura Township).

Approvals from the CMRS are typically conditional in nature and the report should be submitted by the end of the week, so we’ll have to wait and see what conditions are laid out for Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) to begin operations.

Christin Mathew Philip today tweeted a bunch of sharp images of all stations. Here are a few from Konanakunte Cross and Vajrahalli. Minor station finishing and landscaping work is pending at all stations, with Anjanapura having the most work left to be completed.

After this section is approved and becomes operational, the Green Line will become 30.49 km long connecting Hesaraghatta Cross (formerly Nagasandra) with Anjanapura through 29 stations.
