ITD Casts Mumbai Metro Line-7’s First Crossover

ITD Cementation India Ltd. last week celebrated casting the first track crossover at Aarey Station for the 16.5 km Mumbai Metro Line-7 (Red Line) which will connect Dahisar East and Gundavali (Andheri East) through 14 stations.

ITD was awarded this line’s ballastless track-work system’s contract in October 2018 which included its design, supply and installation. The turnouts for this crossover were supplied by Vossloh Cogifer Turnouts India Pvt. Ltd. and factory acceptance tests were conducted remotely through video conferencing in June due to the COVID-19 related lockdown.

When the line becomes operational in 2022, this crossover at Aarey will enable Line-7’s BEML train-sets to guide from one track line to another.

Here are some shots with ITD Cementation and Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA)’s officials inspecting the crossover:

Track installation work on Line-7 has been underway since at least May 2020 on its mid-section (New Ashok Nagar – Mahindra & Mahindra) built by J Kumar Infraprojects. MMRDA has a status tracker on their website (last updated November 1), but that only captures civil work’s progress.

I think services can start from Dahisar to Aarey only, bcoz from Aarey to Andheri, there are lots of work to be done there are no signs of Shankarwadi and Andheri E Metro Station.Construction Shankarwadi metro station have just started and i dont think it will be ready before 2022
