Schindler & Otis Awarded Delhi-Meerut RRTS’ Packages 21 & 22

Winners for two more system packages are now known. Per the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC)’s updated website, Schindler and Otis were in December awarded the escalator and elevator contracts at 22 stations of the 82.15 km Delhi – Meerut RRTS Line.

While these two aren’t the most exciting contracts, they are among the last few significant high-value system contracts of this under construction semi high-speed rail line where Bombardier trains will run at a top speed of 160 kmph.

NCRTC had invited invited tenders (bids) for both packages in July 2020 funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). They estimated them to cost $23.73 million (approx. Rs. 174.23 crore) and $8.75 million (approx. Rs 64.15 crore), and expect the assigned contractors to finish work in 1550 days (3.35 years) from when the contract is awarded.

Final contract values for each remains unknown. If someone is aware, let me know and I can add it in.

RRTS Package 22 – Otis

Brief Scope: Design, Manufacturing, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Elevators for Delhi – Ghaziabad – Meerut RRTS Corridor of NCRTC

Technical Bids Opened: September 30

Financial Bids Opened: December 14

Bidders (5):

• KONE Elevator India

Winner: Otis Elevator Company (India) Limited and Otis Elevator (China) Company Limited

Awarded: December 28, 2020

Looking at the individual partners in each consortia, I reckon the escalators and elevators will be sourced from each company’s Chinese plants.

With this development, I’m now missing information about the winners for the following 3 packages where financial (price) bids have been opened. If someone knows, just leave a comment below or shoot me a message via the contact page.

• Package 10: Architectural Finishing and Electrical & Mechanical (E&M) systems at 7 elevated stations – there were 6 bidders
• Package 12B (2 lots): Roof-work at 12 elevated stations – 3 bidders submitted a bid for each lot (total 6 bids)
• Package 16 (2 lots): 2000 MT of 1080 Grade Head-Hardened and 4000 MT of regular 880 Grade rails within Duhai Depot, Modipuram Depot and Jangpura Stabling Yard – 2 bids were received for Lot-1 and 1 bid for Lot-2 (bidder names are unknown)
