Ceigall & Evrascon Win Delhi-Amritsar Expressway’s Packages 7 & 8

Ceigall India and Evrascon-MKCIL today emerged as the lowest bidders for constructing packages 7 and 8 of the roughly 650 km Delhi – Amritsar – Katra (DAK) Expressway after National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) opened financial bids.

This 4-lane greenfield project starts at KMP Expressway north-west of Delhi, and will be expandable to 8 lanes with provision of service roads in the future. Phase 1 involves the construction of a 397.7 km greenfield expressway between Delhi – Ludhiana – Gurdaspur and a 99 km spur connecting Nakodar – Amritsar. 

NHAI had invited bids for the civil construction of these 2 packages in November 2020 with a 2 year deadline. Both are located in south-central Punjab’s Sangrur and Ludhiana districts.

Package 7

Brief Scope: Construction of 4-lane Greenfield Delhi-Katra Expressway from Junction with Patiala-Bathinda road (NH-7) near Bhawanigarh to Junction with Ludhiana-Malerkotla road (SH-11) near Bhogiwal village (Km 188.830 to km 225.770) on EPC under BMP in Punjab

• Bidders: 14 (all technically qualified)
• NHAI’s estimate: Rs. 1129.02 crore

The lowest bids for each were well below NHAI’s estimate, so contracts for these should be awarded without much scrutiny during financial bid evaluation. This will be Evrascon’s 4th win after packages 9, 10 and 12 in central & north Punjab.

DAK Expressway project’s greenfield section consists of 15 packages – 12 on the 397 km Delhi – Gurdaspur section and 3 on the 99 km Nakodar-Amritsar spur. With this development, financial bids for 12 have been opened, technical bid evaluation is complete for 2 (Packages 11 & Spur II), and a tender notice is pending for 1 (Spur-I).
