Afcons Casts Delhi-Meerut RRTS Package 6’s 1st Pier

Back on June 2, Afcons Infrastructure poured concrete to cast the first pier for Package 6 of the 82.15 km Delhi – Meerut RRTS Line, just north of New Ashok Nagar Station.

This is a significant development as this pier – Pier #218 – is the very first permanent structure of this new semi high-speed rail line within Delhi’s borders. The pier is 6.5 meters tall and this Package 6’s 273 piers will vary between 5.6 to 17 meters.

Afcons was awarded Package 6’s Rs. 1061 crore contract in October 2020 for constructing an approximately 4.3 km section between Sarai Kale Khan – New Ashok Nagar. The team started site preparation & test piling works in January 2021 at various sites, including the Yamuna River’s floodplains for a 1.35 km bridge just north of DND Flyway.

I’ll add an image of the pier’s final look here when available.

Hey TMRG, do you have any updates on construction of Delhi-Alwar RRTS? I read about some pre construction activities a few months ago but nothing ever since.

Also, would you be covering Bangalore suburban Train tenders in coming months? I know it’s not high speed so just wanted to know if you are interested in that project.

Hi, they’re still in talks with different lenders to fund its construction. Pre-construction activities (eg. pile load tests) have been ongoing since 2019. A couple of low-value utility shifting tenders are in progress. Bid opening for its General Consultant contract is currently scheduled on July 16. It’s been pushed back at least 7 times now.

I’m interested in certain contracts of Bangalore’s suburban project. One of them is the General Consultant. Bid opening was on June 15 but no one in my circle knows who bid for it. Hope to create a dedicated information page for it this year…just need to find some time.
