Nagpur Metro Phase 2’s Tenders Invited for Construction Work

MahaMetro has in the past week published two notices inviting bids for constructing Reach 1A and Reach 4A of the 43.8 km Nagpur Metro’s Phase 2 project.

This new phase’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) was approved by the Public Investment Board (PIB) in March with an estimated cost of approximately Rs. 6700 crore, but is still awaiting the Central Government’s cabinet approval.

As you might have noticed – station names haven’t been published in either notices. I haven’t seen MahaMetro announcing them via their social media channels either.

Back in July 2020, a consortium of AECOM – Systra MVA Consulting – Consulting Engineers Group (AECOM – SYSTRA – CEG) JV was the only bidder for MahaMetro’s General Consultant contract for various projects in the pipeline. I’m not entirely sure if a contract was awarded or not.

Scope in the basic tender notice isn’t that clear. That section might be part of the 1.017 km at-grade section mentioned.
