3 Bidders for Ganga Expressway’s Construction Work

Adani Enterprises, Ashoka Buildcon and IRB Infrastructure Developers are the 3 firms that have bid for developing the 594 km Ganga Expressway connecting Meerut and Prayagraj on the public-private partnership (PPP) mode under Design, Built, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis.

This six lane access-controlled expressway by Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) will have a 120m ROW (right of way) and is designed to be expandable to 8 lanes in the future. More design details can be viewed here.

On the Meerut-end, the expressway will be connected to the Delhi – Meerut Expressway’s upcoming Phase 5. That phase envisions the construction of a 14.60 km Zainuddinpur to Jahidpur connector and APS Hydro emerged as its lowest bidder earlier this month. On the eastern-end, the expressway will end at Prayagraj Bypass.

Ganga Expressway’s Phase 1 has been divided up into 4 sections for development with each section comprising of 3 civil packages. In Phase 2, the expressway will be extended by 110 km to Tigri on the Uttar Pradesh / Uttrakhand Border and by 314 km to Ballia near Varanasi. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) has not been finalized.

UPEIDA invited RFQ applications in March 2021 with a 3 year deadline. The rudimentary route maps displayed below are straight from the tender document and give a rough idea about the expressway’s alignment.

Technical bids were opened by UPEIDA to reveal they received a total of 12 bids – one for each group – from Adani, Ashoka and IRB.

Group 1

  • Length: 129.700 km
  • Estimated Project Cost: 5039.85

        I am not asking about Delhi Dehradun Expressway’s Haridwar spur, I am asking about Haridwar bypass starting from Km 188 of NH 58, near bahadarabad bypass ending at 5.1 km of Haridwar Najibabad road

      Since this is epc mode value more than 6000cr and maintence period upto 35 yrs so most bidders were not intersted i think so much about highways are being built in india so major contractors are busy and due to corona effects and economics at large big ticket projects find difficult to bid directly and do the job.
