HCC-KEC Bores Chennai Metro Line-5’s 1st Test Pile

Hindustan Construction Company – KEC International JV this week bored their first test pile for Chennai Metro Phase 2 project’s Package C5-ECV-03 on the 47 km Line-5 connecting Madhavaram – Sholinganallur.

The consortium was awarded the 11.61 km Puzhuthivakkam – Sholinganallur section’s Rs. 1122 crore construction contract in November 2021 with a deadline of November 2024 (36 months).

Besides constructing the viaduct from from Chainage 33710 m to 45320m in South Chennai, their scope includes 11 elevated Stations at Madipakkam, Kilkattalai, Echangadu, Kovilambakkam, Vellakkal, Medavakkam Koot Road, Kamaraj Garden Street, Medavakkam Junction, Perumbakkam, Global Hospital and Elcot.

Test pile TP-03 is located right between Echangadu and Kovilambakkam stations:

1st bore on December 28
Concrete pour on December 29

    So this means that they have started the construction for line 5?
    What about l&t constructing other two packages?
