14 Bidders for Surat – Chennai Expressway’s Package 2 in Telangana

14 construction firms have submitted bids to construct 38.2 km Package 2 of the Solapur – Kurnool – Chennai Economic Corridor (NH-150C), which forms the southern section of what’s known as Surat – Chennai Expressway.

This new 1271 km six-lane access-controlled highway by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will have a mix of greenfield and brownfield-upgraded sections with an alignment passing by Nasik, Ahmednagar, Solapur, Kalaburgi, Kurnool, Kadappa & Tirupati to link Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.

Package 2 within Telangana will connect Julekal village (Km 242.200) to Kurnool town at NH-40 (Km 280.400). Its Detailed Project Report (DPR) was prepared by SM Consultants.

This is the 1st section of the economic corridor to reach the technical bid opening stage.

NHAI invited tenders for its construction by hybrid annuity model (HAM) in October 2021 with a 2 year deadline and Rs. 869.1 crore estimate. Technical bids were opened on Friday.

Bidders:

  • BSR Infratech India Ltd.
  • BVSR Concstructions Pvt. Ltd.
  • Dilip Buildcon Ltd.
  • Dineshchandra R Agrawal Infracon Pvt. Ltd.
  • D P Jain and Company Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd.
  • G R Infraprojects Ltd.
  • KMV Projects Ltd.
  • KNR Constructions Ltd.
  • KPC Projects Ltd.
  • Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd.
  • Montecarlo Ltd.
  • Oriental Structural Engineers Pvt. Ltd.
  • PNC Infratech Ltd.
  • Ravi Infrabuild Projects Pvt. Ltd.

Brief Scope: Construction of Six-Lane Access Controlled GH section of NH-150C from Julekal Village (Km 242.200) to Kurnool town terminating on NH-40 (Km 280.400) as part of Solapur-Kurnool-Chennai ER on HAM under BMP in Telangana (Package-II)

Representational Only: the economic corridor will link Surat’s proposed Ring Road and Chennai Peripheral Ring Road

The bids have now been sent for technical bid evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.

Bids for 39.3 km Package 1 were supposed to also be opened on Friday, but will now be opened next Friday, unless it’s rescheduled again. The scope of that runs from KN/TS border (Start from Raichur Gadwal road) (km 202.900) to Julekal Village (km 242.200).

A new information page for this project is in the works. When ready, I’ll add a link over here, so do check back.

Any idea if only greenfield sections are access controlled or some more sections from brownfield alignment will be made access controlled?
The entire 300+KM section in AP is not access controlled as on today.

Thanks for your reply. Its ideal to have full access control irrespective of brownfield or greenfield sections OR at least the greenfield sections.
Can you please point to the source of this info – project DPR or any other formal source?

Any kind of development projects in Tamil Nadu is ABRUPTLY opposed by cheap political groups. Public could not realise the future because of such politics. It’s the fatal history of a decade. Hence TN will lack behind in around progress.
