RVNL Casts Indore Metro Super Corridor Section’s 1st Segment

Engineers from Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL) on Monday began pouring concrete to cast segments for Indore Metro Yellow Line‘s 10.927 km MR10 Road – Gandhi Nagar section (Package IN-03).

RVNL was awarded the 33.53 km Indore Metro Phase 1 project’s Rs. 1034 crore contract in September 2021 with a 847 days (2.32 years) deadline. 8.5m wide segments cast at their yard, spread across 15 hectares, near TCS Chauraha will be launched to form the line’s viaduct.

Besides a 575m depot-line, they’ll also be constructing 9 elevated stations at Gandhi Nagar, Super Corridor 6, Super Corridor 5, Super Corridor 4, Super Corridor 3, Super Corridor 2 and Super Corridor 1, Bhawarsala Square and MR 10 Road.

By back of the hand calculations, I estimate approximately 3000-3200 segments will be cast for this section’s superstructure.

Rvnl has subcontracted work to URC n they have cast it..wonder why govt companies bid for projects if they can’t execute in their own..there is hardly any profit for them by subcontracting it

Some firms/orgs get involved in big-ticket projects for brand / image building, even if it doesn’t make them money.
