Kalpataru Wins Indore Metro’s Electrification Contract IN-09

Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd. today emerged as the lowest bidder for the 750 V DC 3rd Rail Electrification contract of Indore Metro Phase 1‘s 33.53 km Ring Line (Palasia – Railway Station – Rajwara- Airport – Bhawarsala – MR10).

The scope of this systems contract (Package IN09) includes design & installation work throughout all elevated & underground stations, including the Gandhi Nagar Depot for which KSM Bashir Mohammad and Sons recently emerged as the lowest bidder.

Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) invited tenders for this contract in November 2021 with a Rs. 516 crore estimate and 1278 day (3.5 year) deadline. Technical bids were opened in March to reveal 7 bidders.

MPMRCL’s Scope: Engineering, Supply, Erection, Testing and Commissioning of Power Supply Receiving Sub–Station (RSS), Traction Sub-Station (TSS), Auxiliary Sub-Station (ASS), 750 V DC 3rd Rail and SCADA System for Indore Metro Rail Project.

Kalpataru’s bid at Rs. 568.31 crore was marginally higher (10.07%) than MPMRCL’s Rs. 516 crore estimate, so I see a contract getting awarded after negotiations.

Back in March, MPMRCL also received 7 bids for Bhopal Metro’s electrification contract (Package BH-08). Technical evaluation is still underway.
