Quality Buildcon Wins 2 Delhi Metro Depots’ Expansion Work

June 14, 2022 Original Post: Quality Buildcon has emerged as the lowest bidder to supply and install pre-engineered buildings at Delhi Metro’s Shastri Park and Najafgarh Depots after the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) opened financial bids in May-end.

This work (Package CC-141R) is one of the low-value residue projects sanctioned under the 162 km Phase 3 project which is nearing completion.

Shastri Park Depot, among Delhi’s oldest depots, was built in Phase 1 and services the 34.69 km Red Line (Rithala – Shaheed Sthal). Najafgarh Depot was built in Phase 1 to service the 56.61 km Blue Line and was augmented in Phase 3 to service the new 5.15 km Grey Line (Dwarka – Dhansa Bus Stand).

DMRC invited tenders (bids) for this expansion work in December 2021 with an estimated cost of Rs. 14.16 crore and 9 month completion deadline. Technical bids were opened in February to reveal 13 bidders and financial bids were opened on May 25.

Quality Buildcon’s bid of Rs. 13.17 crore was well below DMRC’s estimate of Rs. 14.16 crore, so I see a contract getting awarded in the coming weeks without a lengthy financial bid evaluation period.

Technical bids for track-work (Package CT-42) within both depots are scheduled to be opened today (June 14). I’ll add an update here with a list of bidders instead of publishing a new post. Note the scope includes work inside the Blue Line’s Yamuna Bank Depot as well.
