Jindal Only Bidder for Bhopal & Indore Metros’ Track Contract

Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (JSPL) on Friday emerged as the only bidder to supply and install standard gauge 880 Grade Rails (Class A) for Indore Metro and Bhopal Metro’s Phase 1 projects.

Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MPMRCL) invited tenders for this contract (Package BHIN03A) in February with a 728 day (2 year) deadline and unknown estimate.

If MPMRCL is not satisfied with 1 bid, then this package will head to a retender. If they are, then JSPL’s bid will be sent for technical evaluation which will take a month or so to complete. If JSPL qualifies, which they easily should, then their financial bid will be opened to see if their bid is within a certain range of the budgeted estimate for a contract to be awarded.

Earlier in June, MPMRCL received 2 bids for both project’s turnout contract (Package BHIN03C) from Voestalpine VAE VKN India and Vossloh Cogifer. Opening of Package BHIN03B’s technical bids for head-hardened rails has been deferred to mid July.
