4 Bidders for Chennai Metro Line-4’s Platform Screen Door Contract
4 firms earlier this month submitted bids for the Platform Screen Door (PSD) contract of Chennai Metro’s 26.09 km Line-4 which will connect Light House – Poonamallee Bypass through 30 stations.
Full height platform screen doors on this line of Chennai Metro’s Phase 2 will be installed at 10 underground stations’ 20 platforms while half height PSDs will be installed at 18 elevated stations’ 36 platforms.
Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) had invited tenders for this contract, financed by AIIB and ADB, in May 2022 with an unknown estimate and 2245 (6.15 year) deadline.
Bidders
- Fangda Innotech Co. Ltd.
- RT Vision – Dongwoo Pvt. Ltd. JV
- ST Engineering Electronics Ltd
- Zhuzhou CRRC Times Electric Co., Ltd.
Package: C4-ASA10
Scope: Design, Manufacture, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Platform Screen Doors for CMRL Phase II Corridor 4
All 4 bids have now been sent for technical bid evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely supplier.
Besides preventing suicides and accidents due to passenger movement, these PSDs will greatly help CMRL to reduce maintenance costs in the underground stations by improving the quality of the environment, resulting in lower air-conditioning and ventilation costs.
