RVNL Awarded Surat Metro Bhesan Depot’s Construction Contract
Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL) has been awarded a Rs. 198.93 crore contract for the civil construction of the 41.93 km Surat Metro Phase 1 project’s Bhesan Depot (Package DC2), per a NSE filing.
Bhesan train maintenance depot will support Surat Metro’s 19.26 km Line-2 which will connect Bhesan – Saroli via 18 elevated stations. The facility will be connected to the main-line via 10.559 km Package CS5 (Bhesan – Majura Gate) which was won by Ranjit Buildcon – Dilip Buildcon JV in June 2022.
This is the final civil construction contract in Surat Metro’s Phase 1. GMRC had invited tenders for it in April 2022 with a 20 month deadline.
I don’t have a list of bidders and their bid values for this tender. If someone does, then leave a comment below or shoot me a message via the Contact page. I’d like to add it in here for record keeping.
- Final Contract Value: Rs. 198,93,34,549.77
- Package: DC2
- Tender Notification: GMRC/CONS/DC 02/SURAT/PH-1/2022
Brief Scope: Construction Bhesan Depot cum Workshop which includes DDC, BCC and associated E&M works under Corridor – C2, Bhesan to Saroli, for Surat Metro Phase – 1, DC-02
This is RVNL’s second win in Phase 1. Back in July they emerged as the lowest bidder for 22.77 km Line-1’s track work contract in a JV with ISC Projects.
RVNL will most likely subcontract the depot’s construction work out as witnessed in Indore where URC Constructions has been engaged. Who they do to remains to be seen.
With this development, contractors for all civil packages in Surat Metro’s Phase 1 are now known. A list of all contracts and their contractor / status can be viewed here.
