10 Bidders for Singhpora – Vailoo Tunnel’s Construction Work
10 civil construction companies have submitted bids to construct the 10.3 km Singhpora – Vailoo Tunnel project after National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDC) opened technical bids on Wednesday.
This project on NH-244 (old NH-1B) in Jammu and Kashmir will consist of 2 tunnels – a 10.331 km Tube-1 and a 10.363 km Tube-2. Along with the approach roads, this strategic project under Sinthan Pass will be 38.611 km long and drastically shorten the distance between Anantnag – Khellani.
NHIDC invited tenders for its construction in August 2022 with a Rs. 3253.58 crore estimate and 1826 day (5 year) completion deadline.

Brief Scope: Construction of Uni-directional Singhpora – Vailoo Tunnel (Under Sinthanpass) of length 10.331km/10.363km (Tube-1/Tube-2) and its approach road of total length 38.611 km in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on EPC mode.
The bids have now been sent for technical evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.
Besides this project, I’m also tracking the 8 km Shudmahadev – Dranga twin tunnel project shown in the map above. Bids are currently scheduled to be opened on January 6, so stay tuned for a similar post!

Naah no plans, the local media did a good job at covering it. It’s strange but they’ve got only 1 train, so frequency is horrible. Total network is now approx 47.8 km.
Ok cool. Your quick snapshot still says 41.6km though.

I think you should create a separate section for tunnels instead of keeping it in Misc. Lots of tunnels are coming up, it would be nice to see so many 5 km + road tunnel in one place.
