SP Singla Wins Revas – Karanja Bridge’s Contract Near Mumbai

May 8, 2023 Update: Tender has been cancelled without a proper reason

February 13, 2023 Original Post: SP Singla Constructions (SPSCL) was today declared as the lowest bidder to construct a new 2.04 km bridge between Revas – Karanja over Dharamtar Creek by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).

This 4 lane bridge on SH-4 (Revas – Reddi Coastal Highway) in Raigad District will cut down the driving distance between Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) and Alibaug from approximately 55 km to 30 km.

The 29.50m wide bridge will support a design speed of 80 kmph and include a 1.5m wide footpath on either side. At Karanja, a 5.13 km long approach road will be built while at Revas a 1.71 km road will be constructed on stilts.

MSRDC had invited tenders for its civil construction in October 2022 with a Rs. 897.68 crore estimate and 1080 day (2.95 year) completion deadline. Technical bids were opened in January to reveal 6 bidders.

SP Singla’s bid was 11.13% below MSRDC’s estimate, so a contract should be awarded in the coming weeks without a long financial bid evaluation period.

They’ve built and are currently building a bunch of bridges around the country. The one I’m most excited about is the 2.32 km long Okha – Beyt Dwarka Signature Bridge in Gujarat – see project details and design here.

  1. Vivek says:

Hope this is not awarded !

And hope they connect the bridge to Chirle interchange so it’s convenient to reach.

  2. Sunil says:

Connectivity is severely lacking. For MTHL to succeed, karanjia bridge, Jnpt to NMIA, chirle to pune expressway, chirle to goa highway, worli-sewri connector. Rewas port should take off. Maha needs Vadhean Port for its economy to stay ahead of other states. Coastal road in thane. Thane Creek ferry services including NMIA ferry terminal.
