KNR, RCC & DY Win Mysore – Kushalnagar Expressway’s Contracts

March 10 2023 Update: KNR Constructions has received LOA from NHAI for packages 4 & 5.

March 2 2023 Original Post: KNR Constructions, Ramalingam Construction Company and DY Uppar and Sons on Wednesday were declared as the lowest bidders for the civil construction of 92.3 km Mysore – Kushalnagar Expressway project’s packages 2, 3, 4, & 5 in Karnataka.

Ramanlingam and DY Uppar & Sons won 1 contract each, while KNR scooped up package 4 & 5’s contracts.

This 4 lane access-controlled greenfield expressway is a part of the 115 km Mysore – Madikeri Economic Corridor and will be constructed under Bharatmala Pariyojana (BMP) program with an estimated cost of Rs. 3470 crore.

Its alignment will run parallel to the existing national highway NH-275 and connect Guddehosur to Srirangapatna to link up with the 119 km Bangalore – Mysore Expressway project.

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had invited tenders for the project’s construction under Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) in September 2022 with a 730 day (2 year) deadline.

Technical bids were opened in mid-February to reveal 11 bidders. Below I’ve included financial bids from the lowest 5 bidders only.

The lowest bids in each case were either below (P2, P3, P4) or negligibly higher (P5) than NHAI’s estimate, so I expect NHAI to award contracts in the coming weeks without a long financial evaluation period.

The project’s feasibility report was prepared by Feedback Infra and Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to lay its foundation stone this month. In Phase 2, the project is planned to be extended from Madikeri to Bantwal, just east of Mangalore.

A tender notice is still pending for Package 1’s construction between Madikeri – Guddehosur which’ll be partially access controlled. See a list of Mysore – Madikeri Economic Corridor’s packages and their contractors/status here.
