SP Singla Constructions (SPSCL) on Friday was declared as the lowest bidder to construct a new 9.45 km long bridge between Sherpur – Dighwara as part of the 137 km Patna Ring Road (NH131G).

This 6 lane bridge across the Ganga river by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will be the second bridge linking Danapur and Saran districts. The project consists of 5 kms of approach roads on either side linking NH-30 (Danapur – Maner Road) & NH-19 (Dighwara Bypass Road), making the entire project’s length 14.52 kms.

Its Detailed Project Report (DPR) was prepared by S.A. Infrastructure Consultants Pvt. Ltd. under Bharatmala Pariyojana (BMP)’s Lot-5/Package-7. Bihar’s state government in February 2023 approved Rs. 316 crore for acquiring 86.12 hectares of land for its construction.

NHAI had invited tenders for its civil construction in July 2022 with a Rs. 4994.79 crore estimate and 3.5 year completion deadline. Technical bids were opened in December 2022 to reveal 7 bidders.

Indicative route map via PIB; Sherpur – Dighwara Bridge is located on the west-side

The government’s Bhoomirashi website has a rough alignment of the bridge submitted by S.A. Infrastructure Consultants.

Anyways – SP Singla’s bid was a staggering 39.69% below NHAI’s estimate, so a contract should be awarded in the coming weeks without a long financial bid evaluation period.

On the eastern-side of Patna, Larsen & Toubro – Daewoo E&C JV is constructing a 6 lane extra-dosed bridge over Ganga between Kachchi Dargah – Bidupur as part of Patna’s Ring Road – see details, design and status here.
