Kanpur Ring Road: 9 Firms Qualify for Package 3’s Work

October 30, 2023 Update: Hillways Construction Company – Gour Road Tar Coat Pvt. Ltd. JV contested their disqualification and were re-admitted. They also emerged as the lowest bidder for this package’s construction work.

October 19, 2023 Original Post: 9 out of 12 bidders have technically-qualified for the civil construction contract of 93.2 km Kanpur Outer Ring Road project’s Package 3 after technical bid evaluation was completed on Wednesday.

This 6 lane greenfield expressway by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will link Sachendi, Ramaipur, Rooma, Chakeri Airport, Trans Ganga City and Mandhana at an estimate cost of Rs. 5,182 crore. It will also be connected to the under construction Lucknow – Kanpur Expressway near Amarsus village.

18.9 km long Package 3 lies in eastern Kanpur and includes 2 parts: (1) 17.45 km section connecting Ata village (Ch. 51.200) – Khudhgaon (Ch.68.650) with a bridge over Ganga River, and (2) a 1.45 km Airport Link Road to Chakeri Airport.

NHAI had invited tenders for its construction in January 2023 with a 900 day (2.46 year) deadline. Technical bids were opened on September 13 to reveal 12 bidders.

I’m surprised Ceigall got disqualified. Perhaps they incorrectly filled out their bid sheet or failed to provide sufficient documentation to demonstrate experience.

Anyhow, the financial bids of the qualified bidders are planned to be next week, so stay tuned to see who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.
