Himcon Wins Patna Metro Stations’ Finishing & PEB Contract PC-01A

January 17, 2024 Update: DMRC has issued LOA and awarded Himcon Engineers with Patna Metro Phase 1’s Rs. 68,45,59,219.33 contract for Package PC-01A.

December 23, 2023 Original Post: Himcon Engineers India on Friday was declared as the lowest bidder for the architectural finishing and pre-engineered building (PEB) roof contract PC-01A at 5 stations of Patna Metro Phase 1’s Priority Corridor connecting Malahi Pakri – New ISBT.

These 5 elevated stations of 14.05 km Line-2 (Patna Junction Railway Station – New ISBT) are located at Malahi Pakri, Khemni Chak (interchange station with Line-1), Bhoothnath, Zero Mile and New ISBT.

Their civil construction contract (6.107 km Package PC-01) was awarded to NCC Ltd. in September 2020 with a 30 month deadline, and the first of 310 U-girders for the viaduct connecting them was launched in January 2023.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had invited bids for this contract in August 2023 with Rs. 74.95 crore estimate and 2 year deadline. Technical bids were opened in November to reveal 7 bidders.

Himcon’s bid of Rs. 68.45 crore was well below DMRC’s estimate of Rs. 74.95 crore, so a contract should be awarded in the coming weeks without a long financial bid evaluation period.

As shared in the past, Patna Metro is running terribly behind schedule. A tender notice is still pending for the rolling stock (train) contact, so we’re easily 2 years away at this time from seeing trial runs starting.

A tender notice is also pending for the construction of 16.86 km Line-1’s roughly 8 km underground section connecting Patlipura Ramp – Mithapur Ramp, so we’re at least 5 years from seeing Phase 1 getting completed.
