Bangalore Metro Madavara Extension’s Final Track Turnout Cast by Texmaco

Texmaco Rail and Engineering last night completed casting all track turnouts & crossovers for Bangalore Metro Green Line’s 3.031 km long Reach 3C project on Tumkur Road.

This major milestone marks the completion of track-work on the smallest elevated extension of the 73.92 km Bangalore Metro Phase 2 project. It connects Nagasandra (formerly Hesaraghatta Cross) and Madavara (formerly BIEC) via 3 new stations at Manjunathnagar, Chikkabidarakallu (formerly Jindal) and Madavara.

These turnouts will enable the system’s BEML trains (and later CRRC – Titagarh trains) to guide from one track line to another when this extension opens up for commercial operations, which I reckon will happen in Q3 2024 (July – September).

Texmaco’s scope for this extension’s track-work includes 4 turnouts (2 crossovers) of 1in9 type. The team had started track plinth casting work in March 2022, while the viaduct’s final 53m long steel composite girder was launched by Simplex Infrastructure in August 2023.

Commercial operations on this extension have been terribly delayed due to a combination of contractor insolvency and land acquisition difficulties faced between 2017-2022 – as most people tracking the project closely know.

BMRCL hasn’t announced a game plan for operationalizing this extension. Architectural finishing works at Manjunathnagar & Chikkabidarakallu stations have long been completed and is ongoing at Madavar (BIEC) Station by MR Constructions.

For which generation is India building it’s metro systems? Current generation, future generation or future of future generation? 🙂

By the way, good to see some positive progress happening. 🙂

    Hi TMRG
Looks like yellow line and green line extension is going to be operational at the same time?
